With many resources derived from Zambia, we are grateful to the people of this less economically developed country (LEDC), one of the poorest in the world, who continue to help us gather this rich educational material.
But how can we help? Giving tools, skills and debt relief have certainly been beneficial, but an inflow of money is still needed to stimulate an effective economy. To this end, we have created a DVD to promote tourism. We hope you will buy a copy of A Visitor's Zambia and in return we will contribute 10% of the DVD profits, from January 2008 onwards, to local good causes in Zambia.
We also value the earth's resources and strive first to design products which minimise their use, then seek to use recycled and sustainable materials, from local sources, where practicable. We try to trade fairly in all we do, whilst giving our African suppliers the opportunity to improve themselves.
We minimise air travel by equipping locals with the skills and equipment to gather resources for us and when we do travel, we combine trips with ethical holidays. We arrange our accommodation and facilities directly 'in country', avoiding the use of third parties where possible and checking out the ethics of those we choose to use.
Closer to home, we have have converted our office to low energy light bulbs, recycle our waste and print on both sides of the paper. An eco-drive watch also proved to be a very acceptable christmas present!
We actively support IntroZambia,
which provides 'ethical holidays' on a 'not for profit' basis and helps facilitate school and community links between
the UK and Zambia.
