Itinerary
Week 1 - On the Copperbelt (Mufulira or Ndola)
Experience contemporary and traditional Zambian life and culture on the Copperbelt, based in either Mufulira or Ndola, depending on your interests contacts or links.
We will help you to develop an outline itinerary, with individual elements to suit you. On your first day, Zambian colleagues will help plan the details of your week. Should you wish to be independent, you can take responsibility for your own activities. On previous visits, Zambian colleagues have helped arrange many activities, acting as guides and mentors, including visits to: -
- Hospitals, home based care and orphanages.
- Schools and nurseries.
- Peri-urban areas where people live and make crafts such as reed mats, pots and baskets.
- Individual people's own homes.
- Churches, choirs and mothers union.
- The bush for nature walks.
- Copper mines, including 1.2km underground.
- A chimpanzee orphanage.
- Local shops, towns and markets.
- Cultural experiences such as ceremonies, dancing, drumming and singing.

Week 2 |
| Option A |
| Travel from the Copperbelt to stay at a rural farm near Monze (south of Lusaka) and from here visit a bush village, to experience the rural life and culture of the majority of Zambians.. |
|
Continue on south to Livingstone, to visit the mighty Victoria Falls. |
| Then game viewing in the Zoological Park and end the day with a sunset cruise on the Zambesi. |
|
| Option B - Travel in 4 X 4 vehicles to the Eastern Province, to stay in the mud huts of a remote village for 3 nights, experiencing the lives and culture of a family of subsistence farmers. |
|
|
Continue on to Mfuwe, for magnificant game viewing in the South Luangwa National Park. We will be staying at Wildlife Camp, where we will enjoy good food, comfortable accommodation and well informed morning and evening game drives. |
| Accommodation |
|
On the Copperbelt, self-catering, shared accommodation is the norm, so tolerance and teamwork are essential. In Mufulira, a house which sleeps 20 is used. Here there is a variety of rooms – mostly dormitory style, but some which may suit couples or families, depending on group size. In Ndola and elsewhere, guest houses are generally used, except at: -
- The rural farm, where accommodation is basic, but the food luxurious!
- The remote village in Eastern Province, staying in straw roofed traditional mud huts..
