Live the Life..........Meet the People
Sections:

IntroZambia's ethical holidays offer the experience of life as it really is in the towns and villages of Zambia, made possible through the contacts and experience of more than a decade of educational visits and exchanges in the region.

When
Visits are normally two weeks long, around Easter each year, but trips at other times are possible by request.
Costs
As you pay only the actual cost, £1,300 should cover flights, transport, accommodation and food. This excludes UK transfers, passport fees, taxes and injections etc.

  Accommodation
On the Copperbelt, self-catering, shared accommodation is the norm, so tolerance and teamwork are essential. In Mufulira, a house which sleeps 20 is used. Here there is a variety of rooms – mostly dormitory
style, but some which may suit couples or families, depending on group size. Elsewhere, guest houses are generally used, except at the rural farm, where accommodation is basic, but the food luxurious!
  Programme
The first week is spent on the Copperbelt*, where the group will enjoy contemporary and traditional Zambian culture in and around town. We then travel down towards Livingstone, staying at a rural farm and visiting a bush
village en route. The trip ends with an unforgettable visit to the Victoria Falls, before flying home.
* Each participant chooses to be based in either Mufulira or Ndola for the first week, depending on contacts, particular interests or school links.
On your first day on the Copperbelt, our Zambian colleagues will help plan the details of your week. Should you wish to be independent, you can take responsibility for your own activities. On previous visits, Zambian colleagues have helped arrange many activities, and acted as guides and mentors including: -

  • Hospital, home based care and orphanage visits for a nurse
• School and nursery visits for teachers
• Bush walks for those interested in nature
• 1.2km underground Copper Mine visit for an engineer
• Visit to a chimpanzee orphanage
• Visits for all around town and into people’s homes.
Planning
Two preparation days are organised, to give essential information, help us gel as a group and to make sure everyone’s itinerary is to their liking. By the end of the first preparatory day we expect confirmation and payment of an initial deposit.

  Options
Repeat travellers with us are offered an option, in the second week, to stay 2/3 nights in a remote village in the Eastern Province of Zambia, followed by a brief visit to the magnificent wildlife of the South Luangwa National Park.
IntroZambia is a “not for profit” organisation, founded in 2002 by Steve & Caroline Curtis with Laura Tilling, on the principle of fairly trading with local people, to support economic development through grass roots tourism.
